About the restaurant Taverna ripetta

This was the best meal we’ve had in Rome and we didn’t even know what to order! We don’t know Italian so we had difficulty understanding the menu. The chef/owner was very accommodating and we just followed his recommendations and everything was perfect. They brought us various appetizers which were all amazing. The rabbit was tender and flavorful and my husband thought the tuna steak was one of the best he has ever had. The service was very attentive and they were very nice to tourists- trust their recommendations and you won’t regret it!

We found this by chance, and what luck! We were traveling to celebrate our dear friends’ wedding, and after 10 days of revelry, we were fortunate enough to spend our last night here. I regret not asking the proprietor’s name, but she made us feel so welcome, recommended some of the best wine of our trip, and kept us laughing! If you’re looking for a hidden, off-the-beaten-path where the people are as good as the food, look no further than Taverna Ripetta. What. A. Gem. Grazie mille!

Very small and personal restaurant, ask about the specials, the landlady speaks great English and is very happy to help, we nearly missed the octopus which was out of this world!

Authentic, simple, freshly prepared, delicious food. Not a fancy environment, but if it is great italian food you are after, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful cuisine, beautifully presented in a warm, homey atmosphere supervised at every step by the owner. The owner reviewed the entire menu with us and explained each of the dishes. We loved it, and already have recommended this restaurant to friends since returning back to our hotel one hour ago. Small restaurant with fewer than 10 tables. Best to reserve ahead. Great, personal service, too. (I inadvertently left my shoulder bag on the back of my chair, and the owner called me on my mobile to let me know!). Go and eat the great Roman food, you will enjoy.

We were greeted by the owners and it was fun to see them greet, host, and serve the customers. It was definitely a family run place. Seating was limited, so a reservation was a must. The menu was in Italian, but they were helpful and patient with us. The food, service, and setting were outstanding!

This was our final night in Rome and we were happy to have spent it at this fine restaurant. It was a good location only 15 minutes walk from our hotel near the piazza de Popolo, and was cozy and warm. The food was delicious. We ordered the bresaola (cured beef), the pasta with curry, which was a unique flavor I have never had (but delicious), the steak which may be the best I have ever had in my life, and finished the meal off with a semifredo (also outstanding). Thr owner also gave us some free moscato to finish off the meal. The table next to included some locals taking a few Americans to dinner,, and it seemed they ordered the entire menu, which looked amazing. Overall, the owner was sweet and I would go back if I am in Rome again.

Absolutely lovely meal and a real authentic Experience.
a little rough round the edges but it's the food that counts. The host/owner is a lovely lady and to top it off she owns a sausage dog (who my wife adored).

thoroughly recommended but go with your eyes open and not expect the Ritz.
Nice little casual bar next door for a quick drink beforehand too.

This is a family restaurant and does not pretend to be anything else, but it was a very special culinary and personal experience. If you don't try the fish baked in potatoes you will miss one of the best dishes you might ever taste. The service was so personal you felt as if you were eating with family. We will eat at Ripetta every time we come back to Rome.

If you only go to one place in Rome, go here! Was recommended by a friend who has lived in Rome for 30 years. The owner is a delightful Italian grandma type who took extra efforts to make sure we tried the authentic cuisine. She knew wines of the area and was so thrilled to interact with you. Small, quaint, delicious. So authentic. One of the best travel meals of my life.! (...and I've been on all continents)

We went to this restaurant for particular dish (pasta with saffarin and lemon sauce). it was advertised on the web. That dish is one of their specialties. Well, it was unavailable. Secondly, we ordered another dish veal "salta in boca Romana" That dish was unavailable as well. We had to settle for their special for the evening, pasta with eggplant and tomato which was mediocre, too oily. Couldn't wait to finish eating and get put of there. Will never go back.
