I’ve not been to the Cheshire Cat for many years, but I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, the food tonight and the responsible price of a glass of wine.

The service was ok but not attentive. After being seated it took a while to be served and during our meal we were not offered more drinks (which we would have ordered) and it seemed that the restaurant was short staffed, although the place was far from full. Food quality was fair. The children enjoyed their burgers and my wife was happy with her gammon, eggs & chips. My schnitzel was slightly overcooked but ok. An ok experience but I would not rush back.

The food was lovely and the service great. Got a bit of a shock though when a large glass of wine cost £8.45 and a pint of lemonade cost £3.45..

My friend and I went for our Christmas lunch. Very disappointed couldn’t cut our potatoes or parsnips as they were soooo hard….not crispy. The waitress had to bring us a steak knife!! The yorkshires were nice. We waited a longtime for our apple pie,it was ok but once again quite hard to cut and one miserable small scoop of ice cream in a dish . Certainly not worth the £ 25 we were charged. Not sure I shall hurry back ????

The service was very good , the waiter was really pleasant and we weren't left waiting , the food was delicious, the only negative thing was one of our party chose the gammon which was extremely salty so left most of it but the rest of the food was really lovely

This pub has the potential to accommodate a large number of dinners. There was a large number of people at the pub last night but only 5 staff working. Our own experience was good and we didn’t have to wait too long but listening to the people around us there were a lot who didn’t have a good experience, mainly long delays in service, some items not available. Customers were turned away at the door who hadn’t booked - it was a Monday night. A sign of the unpredictable times. I would go back as the food was still good and I’m sure the staff were under great pressure. Definitely book ahead if you’re planning a trip. The booking app was very easy to use.

Waited a while for first drinks, food was nice, but husband had to send lager back and couldn't drink the replacement tasted of cleaning fluids. Understand staffing at such places are struggling so didn't complain. Staff very nice regardless of review have been here numerous times over years and would recommend

The restaurant was lovely, staff are Fantastic, good food presentation, fabulous menu, however belly pork was purely fatty, duck salad needed a dressing. Still had a lovely time.

Amazing food! My mother said it was the best burger she had ever tasted! Brilliant service even though we were told they were short staffed & there may be a delay. It definitely didn’t feel like it! Beautiful pub inside & was the perfect end to a great stay for me & my family in Chester!

My former work colleagues and I meet there once a month to chat about old times. Whilst there we of course, order something off the luncheon menu. The staff are always welcoming and the location is reasonably central for travel purposes.

Food was delicious although there seemed to be quite a lot that the restaurant had run out of so it limited the choices a little. Staff were friendly but I think they were short staffed on the day and seemed to be a little under pressure - not as good as we have previously experienced. Covid rules werent clear to the customers - some customers thought they could order at the bar and got frustrated when they couldnt, some people seemed to be turning up with out a table booking which the staff were trying there best and there was no guidance on face masks.

Lovely place - staff very friendly and courteous. It’s a lovely pub to have lunch and it’s halfway between our home and my daughter’s so it’s a great place to meet. Food is good, with an excellent vegetarian/vegan choice. That’s a big plus for my daughter who, often has little or no choice. At the Cheshire Cat she is point for choice and the menu is clearly marked. We have now been serveral times and will continue to do so.
