Service was fabulous, great menu and the food was very tasty. And enjoyed my first ever Nepalese beer. Great to have such a great restaurant in Hobart.

Authentic Nepalese food, all delicious, attentive & welcoming staff, great ambience, what a gem of a place to find in the heart of Hobart, will make a point if coming back again & recommending to friends without hesitation, lots of great vegetarian options

Amazing food with lots of flavour and friendly attentive service. Enjoyed the Nepalese and Australian national anthem at 6pm also. The momo platter is a must!

Very tasty food (meat platter, multiple salads, momo) at very reasonable prices, and the staff were very lovely - attentive and welcoming. If we were locals, we’d be regulars, for sure.

We absolutely loved the food here. It was delicious and really interesting. There were things we'd never tried and really enjoyed. The wine list needs some work. No Tasmanian wines by the glass and the Tasmanian wines by the bottle had a huge mark up. Consequently we didn't order wine because of the poor selection.

Staff were great, friendly and very welcoming. We were not sure what to expect and it was a new experience for all. The food was tasty, particularly the dumplings! However the sauce accompanying them was not a hit with any at the table. Overall we had a lovely night and would go back.

Great value and tasty food. Had a 7 group booking - food was out in a timely manner and every dish was delicious and interesting. The former pub vibe meets Nepalise culture was great.

Had a lovely meal. No follow up for more drinks throughout the meal. Music was way too loud so didn’t stay too long after our meal finished. Not sure I will return.

Restaurant is great and the food is good but the pricing is not organised, tries to charge more and then don’t want us to take the food we paid for ..they want the money but the customers are not allowed to take their paid food. Need some more coordination and communication management with the customers.

After a wonderful review in the newspaper, we came with high expectations. However, the food was terrible with most dishes drenched in a red sweet and sour sauce. The fried chicken on top of the noodle dish was withered and tough...perhaps re-cooked. The platter of dumplings were not house made and could also have been re-cooked - rubbery on the outside and dried up meat on the inside. So disappointing..

None of our party had eaten at this restaurant before. The waitress was very helpful and clearly explained the type of food and the choices we could make. Most have us had plenty of choice in food items. However, my husband is a coealiac and had less choice. We will return to try more options. The reason that the rating is lower is that I felt that the service was slow at first when we sat at our table. In mitigation, it was a very busy night. However, all it need was for one of the waiters to make eye contact and let us know they knew we were there. Taking our drinks order earlier would have helped too.

Early days for Chowk, but we enjoyed most of the dishes we tried. Like similar menus it takes time to sort out what our favourites would be. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ambience looks like a work in progress. Parking was adequate available at the rear and offsite. At 6 pm guests and staff stop standing to acknowledge both the Nepalese and Australian anthems. A nice touch!

We had the marinated goat with "rice bubbles". The goat was tasty but the rice bubbles difficult to get from plate to mouth as they were dry and light. I thought steamed rice would have been a better accompaniment. Two of the 3 side dishes were not very good either.

Arrived a bit early and where the first there for lunch. Was quickly shown to our table. Menus where really interesting and we ordered far more than we should have, about 5 mains for 2 people. The service was excellent. As was the food. Really different and was absolutely delicous. We tried their beers from Tibet and they also were really up to the standards of any other imported beer. I hope more people find out about this place as we will certainly be going back frequently.
