My husband and I are regulars to this restaurant despite living on the upper north shore. The quality and tastiness of the food (seekh kebab, butter chicken, baigan patiala, cucumber and yoghurt raita and cheese and garlic naan) was the best that we have experienced for some time.

Lovely restaurant and good service, however, it did take a while for the food to come even though only 2 tables. The Butter Chicken was delicious as was the roti.

Overall very good food (especially the Bombay beef and garlic naan). Nice atmosphere and would come back again. Only negative I can think of is it took a while for the food to come out - 45 minute for the mains.

I was pleasantly surprised that the food and service were excellent at the Colonial. We had the samosas, butter chicken and naan. The naan was particularly tasty. All staff were attentive and friendly. It wasn't too busy so service was quick as well

We often enjoy an Indian meal and tonight we had one of the best: a vegetarian platter for entree then Railway Goat Curry and Lamb Saagwala (both with medium heat) with cheese & olive naans and steamed rice. Plus a palate cleansing apple cider. The flavors were exquisite with the perfect blend and amount of spice. We're regulars here but tonight was one of the best. Highly recommended. But make sure you ask for medium heat (or hotter if you're adventurous) to get an authentic experience. You'll feel like you're in Mumbai.

Food was delicious as always but service was poor - staff were more focused on Uber Eats orders than restaurant guests. There were only 3 tables - so little atmosphere in the restaurant

The vegetarian platter entree was so delicious, sadly the paneer was over cooked and rubbery. Really loved the tamarind sauce. I ordered a spicy beef Colonial Balti. Too much pepper and not enough chilli. It ruined the flavour. Also the beef was tough so obviously hadn’t been cooked long enough. Drinks were great value. Wonderful Chardonnay and The mango lassi was very good.

Good food ,Easy parking and great prices with the discount on fork. They did cater to my gf needs for less spicy and did a good job. I felt the Paneer tikka masala was a bit oily. Shame they dont have Shahi Paneer.

Food is consistently tasty and spiced as requested but this time it was not as warm as it usually is. Service is friendly and accommodating however it is back to what my husband and I regard as a bad habit - preferring us and others to keep cutlery used for entrees for the mains - taking the dirty cutlery off the plate and placing it back on the table! The question to be asked by the wait staff should be - would you like fresh cutlery rather than do you wish to keep your cutlery which is obviously dirty - in the past they didn't at times ask, they just placed the dirty cutlery back on the table!

This is a very pleasant local Indian restaurant. The food is consistently very good. The tables are well placed for privacy from other diners. The only negative is that there can be a wait for the dishes to arrive at the table.

It looks small, but quite large inside. I imagine it could get really noisy and busy when full. There's plenty of street parking, but prepare to walk a wee bit during peak. There's a massive car park a five minutes walk from the restaurant. The staff met us quickly. Their attention to detail while serving us was quite good. They asked us the right questions and brought the food out correctly. The dishes looked small, but were decently portioned. A bit pricey, coming in at $100 for two, no drinks, but we walked away full. Their medium spice was lightly spiced for us. Recommended.

We enjoyed the curries and Mango lassi but the service was slow and the waitresses were not attentive as they were busy chatting to themselves all night. They also didn't record that my booking was for the Fork Festival so they didn't give us the discount until we asked them about it.
