We ate at Corkscrew on Christmas Eve as a lot of orher places weren't open. It was close to our accomodation in Alfama and had a quaint local feel. We had platters of meats, ham snd cheese to start with, which were excellent. Then we had steak, codfish and salad which were also good.. The ownrr chose us a robust red wine. and ho did all the front of house and even cooked the steaks (perfectly). Our group of seven agreed this was a great local experience.

Food quality is good. Waiter didn't ask if the beef should have been rare medium well done. Beef was rare, too rare (almost cold). Wines were excellent, plenty of choice.

Dinner was very good but only 2 choices for an entree (which was fine for us) The wine list is extensive and the recommendations we received were perfect for our taste. Service was friendly. Overall, this is a great, cozy spot.

Sausage was good, sardines were disappointing, although the salad dressing with it was excellent. Very helpful waitress.

Great discovery in the busy streets of Alfama. No Fado, just jazz and a impressive collection of wines (over 300). Get recommendations to fit your taste. Small menu but absolutely delicious. The sardines in lemon is a must (we kept ordering one round after another), the Corkscrew salad with the original touch of strawberries, the nicely roasted cod, you won't be dissapointed.

My husband and I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. The owner/head chef/sommelier was kind, knowledgeable and helpful about choosing wine, and his food was delectable. I highly recommend the steak, which is cooked table side, and to perfection. Very enjoyable. Thank you!

After first Problems to find the right wine it becomes a very pleasant evening. Especially the live-cooking of the Steak and the pancakes create a wonderful atmosphere. Next stay in Lisboa we will return.

A wonderful atmosphere to dine and enjoy a bottle or two of wine. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. Be sure to book your reservation ahead as the small restaurant fills quickly and you wouldn't want to be turned away. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Owner very welcoming and certainly knowledgable about wine. Steak cooked at your table, but I had the fish, which was excellent. Rest of family had steak and said it was great. Started with meat and cheese board and added a Corkscrew salad. All very tasty.

This is a small restaurant (6 tables or so) with Jazz music for atmosphere. Limited menu but unlimited wine (and wine knowledge).
