9/10Love this place tho service was a little slow but I guess this time of year and mid week to be expected. Staff polite and welcoming. Need to get a new till it was very slow. Not able to generate individual bills easily. I had a voucher from previous visit forgot to use it but perhaps a reminder being a Christmas offer might have triggered it

7.5/10Lovely atmosphere near the fireplace and bar service was good. Relaxing after a good walk with the dog. Food wasn't quite as expected. The shredded chicken tapa dish seemed deepfried, overcooked and chewy, but a replacement was given.

6/10I had chicken bacon salad. The chicken was so tough I could have soled my shoe with it. I had a real job cutting it. The table was too high which made cutting the chicken even harder - my elbows were almost as high as my shoulders. The pesto on the ciabatta was ‘orrible and made the bread soggy. The “bacon” wasn’t bacon and was almost non-existent. I gave three stars for the salad veg and dressing, although it could have done with more dressing. I wish I’d had a pizza now. BUT the ambience was very good apart from the child on the table behind which was screaming so loudly we couldn’t hear each other speaking (but kids will be kids eh! No problem with that). Sorry but this is my honest opinion.

7/10Our server was new, so a bit slow and didnt seem to know the menu or how to use the card machine. The other staff were good though and overall it was a nice visit.

8/10The food was fine, but the lack of a real person on the end of the phone was not. If you have any queries, they will not be answered, so any dietary requirements cannot be addressed until you are there.

5.5/10We’ve eaten at the crooked chimney many times over the years with mixed experiences. It’s a nice pub and very convenient for stopping off after a country walk with the dog but I don’t think I will be organising a ‘special occasion’ meal there again in a hurry. We went for Father’s Day and there was a fixed 3 course menu, which had a good choice. The problem wasn’t the food it was getting it! We were there late afternoon and it wasn’t busy but every course seemed to rake an age to arrive. That said when the roasts finally did arrive they were very nice. I guess they must just have a real staffing issue in the kitchen and can’t get the food out quick enough. After 2 courses taking an hour and half to complete and then waiting over 1/2 an hour for our desserts we decided to call it a day! The staff were very apologetic and gave us a reduced rate as we had only had 2 courses and a discount but it was a real shame. We noticed on our way out they were doing food deliveries and wondered whether this was part of the problem - concentrating on delivering meals rather than their restaurant customers?! Anyway it won’t deter us popping in when out walking but not for a preplanned meal out.

5.5/10The food was not great. My sons steak was tough, my husband’s blue cheese pizza didn’t taste like blue cheese, and I sent my dry unpleasant chicken schnitzel back. I at first asked for a sauce to add some taste to the schnitzel, which I said I would pay for, the waitress came back saying it didn’t come with sauce. I further explained I wanted a sauce, any sauce, just to make it better. She asked another waitress about it, that lady told her just to give me ketchup or mayonnaise. Then the waitress came back a third time saying I had to go pay for a sauce at the bar first. By this time everyone had finished their food. I sent my food back and we just left. The manager only arrived after I asked for my money back.

10/10We had been 3 or 4 times in the past year. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our fish and chips last evening. The service was excellent and we are likely to return more frequently in the future.

5/10This large well liked pub/restaurant was always full . The food was relatively good if not very good . The food today was cold . Roast dinner , cold potatoes .Roast beef fortunately warm placed over other veg which were tasteless . My daughter and myself had our food given first, a good five minutes later the others plus her four year old daughter were given their food last . This was a celebration of my husbands seventy fifth birthday . We were embarrassed to have recommended the crooked chimney as a place to have met up . The staff were very helpful and did their best to look after us . However we will not be returning in the near future . Fortunately we have a good choice of restaurants around .

4/10When 4 of us visited last week it was a sunny day so we sat in the garden which was pleasant but desperately in need of weeding and other attention (eg horizontal bamboo across one of the paths). Comfortable chairs were a strong point. The food came in ones and twos with long gaps between plates. My companions were happy enough with their orders - the steak was correctly rare. But my fishcake was a big disappointment. It was basically potato with a tiny amount of fish and came with yet more potatoes but no salad or veg. Staff were friendly and helpful but the delays between the appearance of the dishes didn't compensate.

10/10We last visited approximately 3 years ago and was really disappointed. However, today (4th August) everything was spot on. Daniel, the young lad who served us was so good - very polite and friendly. Also compliments to the chef, the food was lovely. Will definitely revisit and recommend.
