It was the biggest fish and chips I’ve ever seen so far. The fish is very fresh and side dishes are tasty.
Tasteful dishes and lovely place, plus the waiters are very accommodating people. A Nice experience! ❤️
Exceptional food. Fresh battered fish just like back home. Welcoming of dogs. Lacked music or ambiance, but who needs that if you have good food.
My wife fancied some fish and chips so we decided to go to the Fat Mermaid. The waitress was very welcoming to us and sat us upstairs. We both ordered the fish and chips meal with drink and dessert. The food arrived at a reasonable time. The food itself was scrumptious especially the chips. The chocolate mousse was amazing too. When I went to pay, the gentleman was really friendly and asked us if we enjoyed our meal which we did! He said they’ve been open for 3 years now. At this rate with the food and service, they can easily stay open for another 30 years!
We love here!!Great food and friendly staff!!Highly recommend☆☆☆☆☆
It's a nice little restaurant in the heart of Old Nice. Was greeted warmly and in English, so was nice. Food was excellent, and very big servings. They also have an awesome selection of local craft beer.
Absolutely superb. We have had fish and chips in England where we lived, all over the US, in Australia etc. this is world class. The batter is perfect and light and crispy - not too thick. Chips were true high quality British style chips. The cod quality was A+. Highly recommend.
Lovely little restaurant with very cheerful staff. Food was excellent and fresh and tasted really good. The fish was so fresh and the batter light and crispy. The mushy peas were so tasty and could tell they were made from fresh peas. I really enjoyed our visit and would definitely visit again.
This place was fantastic! I had researched a few places prior to arriving at Nice and The Fat Mermaid was one of them that had caught my eye. My husband and I both had the fish and chips. I had the original and me husband had the special breading of the day (which was Guinness). Both were great! Tasty fries and really good coleslaw. I had the mushy peas, which were just that. Mashed peas. I loved them! The restaurant was on a narrow street lined steet with several restaurants. We made a reservation and arrived at 7:30 on a Thursday night. It was still fairly empty at that time so we were able to sit at one of the few outdoor tables, which was awesome for people watching and relaxing. By the time we left the restaurant was full, so I'd suggest come early or make a reservation as it's a small space with limited tables. The service was what really made our experience. Our server was an absolute delight. She was friendly and warm and make great beer suggestions. My husband and I have been collecting bottle caps of all the better we tried while e have been in France. We aksed to keep our caps and the reasoning behind it, and after the meal was over she brought us out a handful of bottle caps from local brews, which was incredibly thoughtful! The food, atmosphere, and service was really wonderful, so glad we went!
Within the first few hours of reaching nice, this was the first place we went for lunch (even before we reached our air bnb) lovely restaurant. Intimate. The food was served promptly and was a good amount. Staff were friendly and welcoming
This is 4th time visit.I felt everytime that meal was amazing good!!!
I love the food!!Yum!!
Rather expensive for what You got. Around €15 a head for two compact fish and chips for adults and battered sausage for my lad that just came on a sea of baked beans with no chips!!! Had to order chips as an extra for him. Considering positive reviews we were left massively underwhelmed
We booked this restaurant following on from other TripAdvisor reviews and are really glad we did. The food was superb and, being from the north east coast of England, we are used to really good quality fish and chips - the fish and chips and home-made mushy peas matched that. As an accompaniment we had wine and Blue Coast IPA, both of which were lovely, to the point where the IPA was probably the nicest we've ever tasted anywhere. Great little restaurant, highly recommended.
Really good fish and chips
Amazing little gem right in the heart of the old town. The fish and chips together with the side dishes were simply wonderful and very delicious. Can highly recommend this place.
Excellent fish and chips. The fish was very fresh and the guiness batter was yummy.
The fishburger war really good.
