Table was nicely laid had to wait well over an hour for our sandwiches..the vegan wrap was inedible soaked in vinegar . However as I was unable to eat it I did get a full refund. Myself and 6 others in the group shall not be returning.

Great staff, shame about the food. It was just an average Sunday lunch and at the price you’d expect more. Meal was luke warm at best, roast potatoes weren’t fresh and had that microwave reheat taste. The meat was good. Portion size was good.

Very cold in an old section of the pub. Took 1hr 15 minutes to receive our main meals. Very polite staff and good quality food although our meals were served Luke warm but we didn’t want to complain as we had appointments to get to and just needed to eat and leave asap.

The food was lovely, but the service not so. We booked on for 4.30, after a walk in Longshaw. A long wait for our main course & an even longer wait for our desserts. So we cancelled the dessert order & asked for the bill. Our server came & apologised for our long wait. There did not seem enough staff on at the Fox House today, to cope with the number of people wanting to eat there. This is the first time that we received poor service, so we were disappointed. Thank you

Food wasn’t very pleasant had the 3 meat Sunday roast and the only nice part was the stuffing both pork and turkey was dry and the beef was worryingly pink and very fatty. The gravy though was absolutely vile tasted like burnt meat oil.

We had a late lunch today at The Fox House - drawn back by the 50% discount off mains this week. Disabled parking conveniently just beside the main entrance. We shared the garlic prawn starter - prawns were ok, nicely prepared and shelled, but not much garlic or other flavour. My wife enjoyed her Forestière Chicken, and I had the Fillet Steak - cooked just right, but not quite as tender as I'd have hoped for a fillet. Everyone was friendly & helpful, but service was quite slow. Just as well we were not in a hurry! Nice place!

The meal was a little disappointing actually, my friend & I decided on the chicken, bacon & avocado salad, unfortunately the avocado was absent! When we queried this, we were told that they only had smashed avocado left, so we requested a dish of the same. We were of course expecting slices of avocado, so we made do, but as I said, we were both disappointed. Thank you

It was busy due to half term holidays but we were looked after well . It was explained clearly when we ordered how long we might need to wait. Nice atmosphere. Tasty food. Staff suitably attentive despite being busy.

I have given the food 4 stars for although it was good and very tasty, the beef and Yorkshire pudding were a little chewy. The service was excellent but we sat at the side of a window and it was cold and draughty. Having said that, we will definitely to again.

The service was good but the decor was tired and a little grubby. The food was ok, but my fish cakes did not have much fish in them and were rather small and over cooked. Other members of our party were happy with their chicken pie and chicken schnizel.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here after a beautiful local walk (Surprise View). Both dogs were made welcome as were we, by a very friendly, competent waitress who was unfazed by 1 of us needng to avoid dairy due to an allergy. Very reassuring that it was taken seriously.
