4/10Ordinary - nothing was truly terrible but absolutely everything could have been done better. With 20 empty tables outside next to the playground, our group with 2 kids we were seated next to pool tables indoors. There’s no champagne by the glass on the app, and the only pinot gris is out of stock, despite sharing the site with Dan Murphys. Overheard a table complaining about the state of the toilets who left before the kids dessert arrived.

10/10We’ve dined here a few times in the past two years and never been disappointed. Food is always fresh and tasty and served in generous portions. Service is efficient, friendly and polite. I love the super casual, relaxed and laid back ambience of the Gap Tavern. There are multiple dining areas, both inside and outside, with something to suit all tastes and seasons. It’s comfy, airy and spacious, no matter where you sit. There are clean and well provisioned toilets and ample free parking in the car park right outside the venue. And you can’t beat this place for value for money, especially if you’re a Monty’s Rewards Club member. There are generous seniors' deals as well. We’ll definitely be back.

7.5/10The standard of food has markedly improved in the last 2 months. Service was good - all meals served at the same time. Noticeable increase in staff numbers. Only issue was that contract gardiner was using noisy blower and hedge trimmer during peak lunch period - finally stopped after being requested by staff.

5/10Out of 4 of us, only one was happy with meal. Kitchen cannot cook a rare steak properly and the fish and chips were terrible. We had to wait 45 minutes too, although it was by no means full. We will not be back - we are locals and try the place every 6 months or so in the hope it has improved, but we are consistently disappointed. No more chances!

8.5/10Firstly, we were greeted with friendly staff. This friendliness followed through to all staff we had contact with while dining. Secondly the food arrived in a timely manner. Lastly, most important we all enjoyed our meal. We then relaxed with a few drinks and everyone at the table commented on how relaxing the night had been. Yes, we will come again.

5.5/10Food was better than the last time we were there but there is still room for improvement. Service is on the slow side - maybe due to lack of staff. Tables on deck are original, are sticky even after being cleaned. They definitely need to be replaced. It is an open deck so quite a few birds (magpies) were sitting on tables and chairs (not healthy and they were defecating on chairs etc.) No effort made by staff to remove them.

If you would have spoken to me, you would know that we are about to go through a renovation in the coming months where all of our furniture is replaced and that the deck will be closed in with glazing to stop the birds from visiting. You would also know that all of Australia is facing staffing shortages in the hospitality industry and we are trying our best to still be able to provide the same level of service at the busiest time of the year. 10/10The Gap Tavern is a lovely place to share a meal with family and friends. The food is delicious with plenty of add ons to compliment the dishes. There is a wide variety of drinks to suit all palettes. Well worth plenty of repeat visits.

3.5/10We have eaten at The Gap Tavern on numerous occasions over the years - todays experience was the worst that we have encountered. All four of us had salad as part of the meal - there was not one piece of tomato in the salads and no dressing on the salads - very dry. Portion size was below average. The tables on the deck are original with the surfaces breaking down and need to be replaced. Location is about the only redeeming feature.

8.5/10This restaurant is a really lovely family or friendly venue to get together. The food is delicious and the the service is efficient and professional. There is a well stocked bar and the amenities are great. Plenty of parking and it’s wheelchair accessible.

7/10We are long term patrons of The Gap Tavern and hold many family birthday dinners here. The food is always very good. On this occasion, service was a major let down. From a waitress spilling a desert in the middle of the floor and not cleaning it up for over 5 minutes, and then not cleaning it up properly, leaving a slip hazard in the middle of the floor, to not clearing table of glasses or plates... Very disappointing but hopefully a one off occurrence.

7.5/10After we were seated, I asked for a menu and was told that the Tavern had "gone digital". The choice was to use a mobile phone to see the menu, order and pay, or go to the counter where a menu was taped to the wall. I am 80 years old and I have no wish to use my remaining years, be it long or short as the Queen says, to spend time didliing with a mobile phone and learning a new app. It only costs a few cents to print the menu, which rarely changes, and provide it. We noticed many people chose to go to the counter to order, especially drinks. We will go back once more, and if there is no paper menu, we will go to another pub. This overuse of mobile phones is silly.

We offer the ME&U digital ordering which is accessed through your phones browser and not an app which is super easy to use and we would be more than happy to show you how to use it next time you visit us. We offer this service to allow you to spend more time at your table socialising with friends and family and less time waiting in lines waiting to order food and drinks. However If you would prefer to order at the counter, you are more than welcome to, just use your phone as a menu and come up to the counter and place your order there.
