My husband and I popped in for a late lunch around 2pm. We sat outside on their lovely patio- and shared a flatbread wood oven pizza with salad and a glass of wine. The pizza was perfect- the crust divine! Also the salad was terrific- the leaves so fresh. The lady that served us was so pleasant - greeted us with a warm smile. We will definitely be back!

The food was good but not all the food on the menu was available and this was 2000hrs on a Friday, when I booked the table I asked for somewhere quite as a memeder of our party is a little hard of hearing, we were put next to a table of men on a birthday party we all sat in silence due to the fact they were to noisy

We chose The Golden Retriever because of our beautiful Goldie. We were so pleased we did. The ambience was lovely, the food was delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect for us. I had the pasta with seafood and my husband had the burger both were presented nicely and were very tasty, I also enjoyed chatting with the waitress, lovely young girl, and she gave us a little rundown on the history. love the way there are old photos around the walls and funny little messages. There was a lovely bubbly atmosphere of families and couples all enjoying meals together.

The staff were very friendly and efficient. When we arrived, we were seated near a very rude woman, who insisted that we move, as we had our dog with us. Despite us, and your staff explaining that it was a dog-friendly pub, she was so unpleasant that we were happier sitting elsewhere. The staff were very apologetic, but it wasn't their fault. Christina looked after us well, and the unfortunate incident was quickly forgotten. BTW, we drove down from a village near Luton, as we have a Golden Retriever, and I wanted a nice surprise for my Wife, as it was our wedding anniversary. She was delighted.

I periodically take friends and relations to The Golden Retriever and food, drinks and service is always very good indeed. It is also a very nice atmosphere, with friendly staff. It can get very busy at times, so it is wise to book if you can, although I am sure staff will do their best to find you a table.

Very pleasant meal, service a little slow especially getting drinks after arrival. There was a problem with the male cloak room in that a light in a cubicle was not working. The other cubicle could not be locked.

A very nice meal and very attentive and helpful service. One problem: the lighting (it was lunch time) is very dim. It may be OK for young people with good eyesight, but is not for individuals of my generation (and another customer was complaining about it). I had to use the light on my phone to read clearly. Please turn it up!

Always a lovely ambience enhanced by the log fires. Great service for the traditional Christmas turkey lunch. The food was plentiful and good quality. The only negative was the food temperature which was not hot enough.

We had calamari and it was tasteless very disappointing! Then we had gammon which is usually lovely but it was really salty this time! We didn’t have time to complain otherwise we would have all in all it was a disappointing meal!!!

This was the second time we have been there recently. On both occasions the starter I wanted was not available. I opted for the prawn and mango cocktail as an alternative. This was very disappointing. A whole bowl of lettuce with a dribble of sauce and half a dozen small prawns. The pork belly with crackling had no crackling, just a soggy mess. Both times we wanted to order a mini dessert. On the first occasion they only had brownies. This time the creme brulee was not available. Our booking was for 6.30pm, so no excuse for running out of food The rest of the food was fine but we won't be rushing back

We had a chicken sandwich with mustard and avocado which sounded lovely but it was dry and awful we waited 45mins for our meal we were in a rush had we no been we would have complained but we didn’t have time unfortunately we go to the restaurant all the time and the food is normally great but not this time!!

Very warm and welcoming staff. We went there with our Golden Retriever and they showered him with all the attention and spoilt him to bits???? The ambience was great, courteous staff, great food ! Reasonably priced , easy booking process - what more would you need ??? 5 Stars from me !!!

I had been looking forward to it and booked ahead. It was really busy when we arrived. We got a good seat. They took our drinks order and later took the entre and main meal order. We waited for over 45 minutes for entre and then another hour for main meal. There seemed to a lack of structure to the waiter system and food delivery. The waiter staff were lovely but caught ina nightmare setup. The kitchen catering could not cope with all the people and meals being ordered . I get businesses need to make Money but you need to manage the food to what you can serve realistically. The main meal was over cooked and not edible. We had to stop eating after a couple of bites. The waiter took the order to the manager who apologised. It was so disappointing.

Service and food was excellent. Been to the Golden Retriever before many times, and never been disappointed. Bit of a downside on this particular occasion, though, while we were still seated at our table, a staff meeting was being set up in the area we were still in. Staff did apologise and hoped we weren't feeling rushed. Luckily, we had been thinking of leaving anyway, but did feel awkward about the situation. We'll still come back!

We had a lovely Sunday meal here, great value, and great service. It was quite late since we had been out for the day so was expecting a reduce level of service but was very impressed with the quality and service. Thank you.
