Breakfast menu was varied.. Very friendly staff. Would have been nice to have some fruit, ham and cheese options

We had booked a table for 8 adults and had been to marwell Zoo and thought we would end our day with a lovely meal..we booked the meal for 6pm and we was early so we sat outside with a couple of drinks each. There was a wedding on and staff appeared to on the stressful side. The staff was aware we had a booking as we told them when we 1st arrived. At 5.50pm we asked the receptionist about our booking only to be told it would be at 6.30pm when asked why, we was told because of the wedding which was on. At 1st we thought ok fair enough but then at 6.20pm we was told ot would be nearer to 7pm and after almost 2hrs waiting outside the reception then said they trying to phone the person who booked it to let us know. This wasn't the case as no missed call on mobile then quired about this we was told she must of dialed the wrong number! By which point we was very disappointed and asked to speak to the manager. Along came this man in his chef uniform whom we have yet to know his name. He while body language was awful and again clearly stressed over this wedding he really didn't care about the others he had to deal with or feed. We was very polite and said for the inconvenience would 10% be taken off our bill..this rude man just laughed and said that won't be happening..so we just got up and left.ended up going to a brilliant lovely place just around the corner who couldn't of done any more for us. Won't be returning or recommending this marwell hotel which was once 5star well lucky if its now looking at a 1 star with leaking toilet and torn up carpets it's totally disgusting both in hotel areas and the staffs attitudes.
