4/10Despite booking a table we still had to wait at an unattended reception for 10 minutes to be welcomed by a flustered member of staff who had been drafted in from the hotel and didn’t seem to know what he was doing. Many tables uncleared. Service slow we felt forgotten. However a very apologetic waiter Sam was a credit to the place. I was also perturbed by the presence of several dogs in the restaurant. Despite being a dog owner myself I found this unhygienic and inappropriate in a restaurant

5.5/10Ordered Sunday roast - belly pork and it was just 2 lumps of fat no meat, should not have been served to anyone. They did change to beef which was better, I thought the quality had deteriorated overall since I last went

5.5/10The vegetarian options were low in protein and gluten free options were limited. The only draft "beers" were actually larger type beer, no actual beers were available, not even bottles. Quite noisy as it is a family holiday place. Prices 50% higher than I'd normally pay in a restaurant and with no real justification. When booking I received emails from "the Boathouse", "Google" and "the Fork" most confusing.

7.5/10Nice table outside in the evening sunshine; unusual service processes requires guests to order and pay at the bar then take to the table wine glasses salt and pepper and cutlery. Wait staff then bring ordered food. Which was OK (Sunday roast at 6pm so warmed up and vegetable strudel - uncooked pastry in parts). But whilst I wouldn’t go back it was just about OK. And there is little or no competition on a Sunday evening anyway.

3/10Had to ask for service. A really hot day and had to ask after ten minutes if we could get water. Sat outside and the banister/glass partition was dusty and full of spiders and cobwebs. Please clean. Had to again ask for plates when served starters. Staff there but no one taking it upon themselves to serve the customers. Terrible service. Had Caesar salad with salmon. Salmon slices just dumped on top. Looked awful. Really bad restaurant with high prices. Not worth it

4/10Restaurant was very quiet and less than 40% occupancy. We ordered bread & olives as a sharing starter and less than 5 minutes later the main courses were delivered. We ended up taking the olives with us! Food was mediocre, bit bland and plates were cold! Service equally forgettable will not be returning. Such a shame for such a great location but despite the view it wouldn’t draw us back again!

6/10Very little atmosphere here unfortunately. Food was very average and the menu unfortunately didn’t grab our attention. Service for bringing out olives and breads incredibly slow. Won’t be rushing back.

4/10We had seen the varied reviews on the old boathouse but decided to give it a try given the close proximity to our holiday house. The restaurant itself is well appointed and has a nice feel about it. We had a late booking so were unable to see the lake but can understand it would be quite nice to look out on. The service was sub-par. It took about 40 mins in total to recieve our drinks order. We did recieve part of the drinks order for free due to the length of time we waited. One of us had the fish and chips which was perfectly acceptable and the other had the lamb shank which was tasteless, bland and highly disappointing! All in all overpriced for what we got. We would not recommend or return.
