A great little find. Fine food and nice and quiet. Staff attentive and friendly. Very reasonably priced. Be sure to order some condiments.. Will go again.

The whole experience is best described as ‘adequate’. We turned up and were served and fed. Everything seemed to be produced on a budget, from the decor to the food and service. Perhaps if we had ordered different dishes or turned up on another night it may have elicited a better review, but I’d say The Poet would be best used as a budget home-deliver option once you found a dish you liked. Butter naan was great! For a pleasant night’s dining out, go elsewhere.

Best restaurant in Canberra. Butter chicken and lamb qorma was yum. Chicken 65 was delicious served with hot nan. The chef was super friendly and dinner was served quickly.

Nice decor in the restaurant, although it was very hot and the air conditioner wasn’t very effective so we were sweating. The choice of food was good with lots of traditional dishes as well as the old favourites. The highway chicken and the Kashmiri naan were lovely. Unfortunately my friend is a bit sensitive to spice and although she asked for recommendations on the milder dishes, the chicken tikka was still too hot for her liking and she was feeling unwell after it. To the managers credit, he asked the chef to redo it with more cream to make it milder, however it was a bit too late. The waitress was lovely but had trouble explaining the dishes and understanding what we were ordering (and the questions about spice) and seemed distracted and confused. She also brought us the wrong meals and insisted they were ours before coming back and taking them to another table (luckily we hadn’t put our forks in them!). The corkage fee is a bit steep at $5 pp. We left feeling a bit underwhelmed given all the great reviews. Might give it another whirl for a take away, not sure would dine in again.

The moment we enter the restaurant, We were welcome by the bold aroma smells. The curry is very tasty, chicken fried rice & their naan is a highlight of the night. I hope the portion can be slightly bigger..

The Poet provides excellent service and food is always of high quality and tasty and fresh. One of our faves. Butter chicken is our favourite and the butter naan is fab.

Great little restaurant with Indian and Nepalese food. Authentic amazing food, with generous portions and great service. The Veg Platter was great and the curries were full of meat. Would recommend.

The staff were super friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic, the menu had some items I hadn't seen on other menus. All the food was delicious, with generous servings, it was great value. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to other diners.

The service was really good and quick and the food delicious and hot. The only negative I have is when resetting tables around people, pick up the chairs.
