7/10Our waitress was lovely apologetic for the lack of heating, it was so cold in there. We were sat next to a radiator which we placed our coats over to block the cold coming from the radiator. Very crowded tables to close together no room. Possibly the worst time I’ve ever visited The Red Lion which is sad as normally enjoy going there.

10/10Went for a Sunday roast with family from out of town, however we found out once we got there that they were out of roasts. This was very disappointing. The food we did get was quite good however. As well, the facilities worked well for us with a toddler. They have a high chair and change table available making the booking much less stressful

9/10Service and food was very good. Staff were very attentive. Just a shame there were not more diners in at the same time to create an atmosphere. I appreciate that is something that is out of your control.

10/10Great dining experience at The Red Lion. Excellent service especially by Alison and Jess. The Father’s Day Sunday Roast was great value and the starter, main and puddings were delicious! Beautiful presentation of each course - very impressive!

10/10What a wonderful experience at the Red Lion. The Staff were exceptional! Did feel sorry for them though as no Air con and they really were working hard! Food was fantastic, we had the Pork Belly would highly recommend this roast dinner. Will definitely be back again. Thank you to all @ The Red Lion.

3.5/10My wife ordered the mushroom risotto which was listed as the chief special. It was inedible. The accompanying broccoli was over salted and also inedible. The lamb dinner was good. The burgers were ok. They take reservations like a restaurant but it’s a pub. Everything is ordered at the bar - which is fine if you know it’s just a pub. Drinks were excellent.

5/10The food was mediocre at best. My scallops were overcooked and tough, the risotto they sat on was stodgy and Luke warm. My husband had the mushroom starter which was tepid at best and his roast beef dinner was tasty but basically Luke warm and cold by the time he had finished it. We were disappointed and will be unlikely to return. The staff were pleasant but service was a little slow and disjointed.

7/10Turned up with time to spare which was lucky as by the time we got even remotely acknowledged at the bar only to be told they had no idea about the dinner seating and a reluctant “point” towards another area was given we were on time! Had to wait whilst the lady looked to see if our table was ready then seated at a table for 5 when there was only 2 of us. It was a mix between a “spoons” and a pub and felt very odd and not what we were expecting at all. Luckily our waitress, Nell, managed to redeem the pub by providing a nice efficient service. Food was good - hubby had the salmon which was nice but not very big - and I had the pizza which despite being topped with loads of peppery greens was nice. Had a few drinks which were again nice but didn’t stay for dessert but decided to go for a walk and find somewhere else.

8.5/10One of the few places that accept online reservations in Oxford. Although maybe that wasn't necessary, the place is huge, so plenty of tables available. The food was good, if a bit salty, like in may other pubs. Dishes arrived very quickly, in under 10 minutes. I also would like to thank Nell for the fantastic service!

10/10Great service, absolutely beautiful food. Liam our waiter was very polite and professional. It’s a brilliant place, don’t hesitate to book it for a meal or just catch up for drinks.

10/10Really liked the atmosphere, and the food is great. Service is excellent, coffee is also good. Best PUB in central Oxford, in my opinion. They could do with some natural flowers though.

7.5/10Food good, service good I can’t put excellent as the waitress knocked a pint all down my back. However manager sorted situation very well and we had a complimentary meal and drinks. Once dried out all was ok. Thank you

8/10Lovely place with great food. Staff was nice but busy. Long wait for food-not a problem as looks and tastes great, one starter arrived after the main. Water was not offered at the start or at all- I asked for it as there were glasses set on table. The candles at on the table but not light up. This place can be better with a little more organised attention from the staff.

8.5/10This is a really nicely done out restaurant with a great beer garden right in the middle of town. Whilst I can’t complain about the food which was delicious it did take a long time to get served at the bar due to lack of staff (maybe they are recruiting and it’s out of their hands?)

4/10We were kept waiting for about 15 minutes upon arrival, despite making a reservation many days prior. This was whilst others were being shown to a table promptly even as walk-ins. When finally seated, the server had no idea what drinks were available. It took almost an hour for our starters to arrive - and they had been to three other tables before they came to ours. All the staff seemed to have no idea where any of the food was supposed to go. Parts of our food were missing when it finally arrived. The bill eventually came with the missing items still included, and when we asked for it to be amended, it took another 15 minutes. Mercifully they didn't include the service charge. Food itself was acceptable but conversation was impossible due to the loud music. Ok as a bar but not the place to go for a meal and a conversation.

7/10Enjoyable main course but evening spoiled because we werent informed that Kitchen closed at 9pm so unable to order desserts. Restaurants usually ensure existing diners are offered desserts before closing the kitchen. Poor management!!!
