8/10One of the best things about the Ritz is the balcony: the tables overlook the avenue, reminds me of a southern states mansion or cuban old colonial house. The food is equivalent to good UK pub grub, which is unexpected given the name of the restaurant bu not to ditract from the quality of food, which of its type is very good. Service is OK. We visited twice and on the second occasion the servers where understaffed which meant service was slow and one just about had to stand up and wave to attract their attention. For the most part very pleasant.

6.5/10Waiter was doing great job. We’ve ordered steak medium done - came rare and cold. Salmon - was simply dry. At the end we didn’t pay for 1 drink and steak. But we were not happy bc it was our last dinner in Funchal. And this place has no connection with Ritz :(

9/10The restaurant is lovely and in a great location. The staff were really friendly and efficient. I would have given full marks for food as my club sandwich was excellent, however my husbands burger wasn't that great. Cocktail recommendation of an expresso martini by the waiter was the icing on the cake.

10/10We have been to the Ritz Funchal before around 6 years ago. We booked and got a prime seat on the balcony. Good for and great value. The waiter (Carlos) was very friendly and had very good people skills. Service was exceptional. Thanks.

10/10When we walked passed the Ritz one day I felt intrigued to have fish and chips for lunch so booked a table, dressed up and off we went. The food was great and so tasty and cooked well. The staff were very kind, professional and efficient. We had a table reserved o the balcony which was great and gave us the special experience I wanted. It was lovely sitting higher and watching the world go by below and the yellow madeira taxis moving up the queue. It was a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone who is visiting Funchal to pop in and see for yourself just how lovely The Ritz is.

7/10Felt a little disappointed with the meal , nothing special. Staff seemed to be in a rush to get us out . Although I really enjoyed the coffee !!

About this restaurant
Aberto desde 1905, e localizado numa das Avenidas principais do Funchal, com uma vista soberba sobre o jardim municipal, encontra-se o The Ritz. A conservada fachada do edifício, faz perdurar as histórias de outros tempos, mantendo os enormes painéis de azulejos, que retratam épocas e vivências da cidade, em bonitos tons de azul. Quanto ao interior, é um prolongamento desta vista, com curiosos detalhes, num ambiente acolhedor e confortável. O menu variado, mas não excessivamente extenso, oferece propostas agradáveis para uma refeição descontraída, e os pratos são confecionados na hora, sempre com matéria-prima muito fresca. Vale a pena reunir a sua família ou os seus amigos para uma refeição no The Ritz, e claro, nos dias de sol, nada melhor do que uma mesa na esplanada para apreciar a vista.
