After making our reservation, we had no less than 6 emails and 3 texts asking us to confirm or reminding us of our reservation. When we walked in the girl pointed to a table across the room and told us that was ours. We went over and looked at menus that were in the table, and after no one came by at all, my husband got up to see if we were supposed to order at the bar - you do. Would have been nice for the girl to tell us that. Of the food we ordered, the eggplant was very good, my husband said the pork belly on an Asian salad was good, but my “lemon cheese polenta” had no lemon or cheese on it but did have mushrooms and greens. But it was all flavorless; I had no reason to finish it. The restaurant has wood floor and tables in a big open area and gets very noisy. Would not go back.

The restaurant was very busy but they managed to provide excellent service and first rate food. The portions were very generous and not the fish and meat dishes were delicious. Well worth visiting when you are in Margaret River.

The food was delicious and it was served in a timely fashion. Greeting and seating could have been more efficient. Service was fair: the wait staff were pleasant but not attentive and some were scruffy with loose hair which is not hygienic. The ambience was reasonable though somewhat noisy.

Friendly, and they let us swap tables to move outside. Fish of the day was great, other dishes less so. Only one vegetarian option for starter and main was disappointing, especially when it wasn't very nice.

The River is a favourite of ours when we visit Margs. Love the laid back happy vibe and the traditional country pub feel it has. The service is always good and the menu has lots of choice. The Fish curry is one of the best meals I’ve had and the Sweet potato fries so delicious. Hats off to the chef!!

The service and wait time for the meal was very good especially since was a very busy evening. Staff were attentive. We had the lamb cutlets more like a small rack (3 chops) was very rare and the steak with the roasted veggies which were more like steamed. Decent sized serves. Very varied menu. Nice ambience though a little noisy.

A real character pub setting. We requested a quieter corner and got it. We stuck with the starters for our meal and treated it like tapas. The chicken wings and fish tacos were great! Great selection of local wines to choose from.

The food was great, bar staff were poor, 0 enthusiasm, table service was ok, no one came to check we were all good. Obviously good chefs as the food was excellent, but the place was so noisy we could not hold a conversation and unfortunately our table was right by the door ….

The River restaurant was extremely busy - it was school holidays - and we were shown to a quieter table in a little nook. The food was wonderful - we had lamb spare ribs and brussels sprouts and chips. Prompt service, delicious meals and happy ambience.

Our booking was thoughtfully considered as we needed wheelchair access. The food was delicious, but some dishes could have been a little warmer. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff friendly. Perhaps the tables could have a more thorough wipedown as it has a bit of a sticky pub vibe

I love dinner at The River, and especially before a show at the Margaret River Heart. This must always be a busy night for the staff, but they are all lovely, service is quick and food was fantastic. We three enjoyed the Fish Tacos, delish.

We had not been here in ages but will definately be going back. Fire going on a winter's night and very nice food. Only negative was it can be a bit noisy when really busy.

We had the Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake), prawn & bacon pasta, Thai fish salad, chargrilled brussel sprouts and every dish was absolutely delicious. Very reasonably priced as well. Great selection of drinks and staff were friendly.

Always delish and fab looking food at The River and the chef is happy to make a few small changes based on dietary requirements, rather than being super rigid - very refreshing :) The drinks selection is awesome and service is friendly and welcoming.

Great food. Loved the Japanese influence to the menu. Busy place but service was good. Was told it’d be about a 30 minute wait for food which was fine while we had drinks.. Definitely recommend!

We had the crispy fish thai salad, bacon & prawn pasta, beef rib fingers, bowl of chips. Was tasty overall. Crispy fish wasn’t crispy but still went well with the salad. Beef rib fingers was delicious but a little on the salty side. Lovely place with great selection of drinks.

Whoever the chef is , they are good at what they do. I am a vegan foodie and can always rely on the perfect balance of flavours with all the vegan dishes.. When my husband and I come to the River restaurant I’m seriously in flavour ecstasy. I also want to congratulate you on what you offer as you also think outside the box. A real hit was the tofu , miso and mushrooms. Great service too! Juanita

From the moment we walked in, on a rainy day in Margs. The staff were attentive and friendly. They catered so well for the kids, offering pencils and a colouring book. Great wine list and the food was incredible - easily one of the best lamb dishes, I have enjoyed and the kids finished all the pasta from the kids menu! Amazing!

A few delish vegetarian options that were easily changed to vegan and no issues from the chefs with the request. A huge range of spirits and beers to choose from and great service on a super busy Friday night. Thank you
