10/10Make sure you reserve a table as the outdoor seating is limited and the indoor seating has zero ambience. The food and waiters were marvellous and the wine list a welcome homage to local producers. The overall price was 130 Euros for two starters, two mains, one dessert, a G&T, and one of the cheaper wines. So, it's not a cheap meal out. The only sour note was the main arriving far too soon after dessert. Highly recommended!

9.5/10What a hidden gem. Behind a very unassuming frontage there is a courtyard setting which is charming. The waiting staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The food was excellent and so much more interesting than the descriptions on the menu.

9/10Recommended by a friend. Luke warm reception and had to wait 40 mins for our table. But the ambience, the food and service we subsequently experienced more than made up for our wait. Would definitely return.

4/10The staff were experiencing internal trauma on service issues - IN FRONT of guests trying to enjoy a meal. Ongoing bickering and disagreements between service staff really disrupted our meal. This caused them to be distracted and resulted in further mistakes, pouring wine into a water glass, late with serving dishes or abruptly serving dishes with no more than a grunt. The duck was severely over-salted to the point of being inedible. For the amount we paid, I expected way more. I would not recommend.

10/10Incredible experience. The quality and presentation of our meal were phenomenal, only surpassed by the truly professional service and atmosphere. This was our favorite place to eat both dinner and lunch in Funchal.

10/10This was our third trip to Tipografia in the four weeks we have been in Funchal. The food and the staff are excellent! We have been to other restaurants, even one with a Michelin star, but Tipografia is outstanding in its class. I look forward to returning to Funchal to spend time with my cousins and to eat at this wonderful restaurant.

9/10Really really lovely food that was cooked to perfection & served beautifully. We didn’t book a table until 9pm & after our starter the other tables had finished their food & left so it lacked ambience & the restaurant was being set up for breakfast around us.

9.5/10Good restaurant attached to a small hotel. In good weather tables are set in an outside, sheltered, area. Menu choices good if not as large as some local restaurants. Food well cooked and very well presented.

10/10We had dinner here twice during our holiday and really enjoyed everything we ate. The menu is very interesting including some starters and main courses to share. A complimentary amuse bouche is offered as well as excellent bread and accompaniments. We found the portions quite large so didn't have room to try the desserts. Service is excellent and we were very impressed on our second visit that they recognised my husband and remembered his food allergies. The wine list is very good and the female Sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful in our choice of wine.
