The food was very good - lamb was perfectly cooked. The service was also friendly and warm. Not cheap but decent value for money

The mussels in white wine were generous and tasty. Lots of celery and onions - but very nice wine sauce. The fries and sauces good. Thewine and service first rate. The lonsyer would not be on the order next time, bit mussels, salads and oysters are worth eating here. Great location.

Since 1992, the menu reads. That’s almost 30 years in one of Leuven’s most competitive restaurant streets and the place was nearly full in a week night. How they do it? A limited and classic selection of mostly Belgian specialities. So we had large, firm meat balls in a bit of tomato sauce, a stew of pork cheeks with a brown beer sauce, as variation on the classic beer beef stew, and a special of the day, “zeewolf” (Atlantic wolffish or woof) with carpet shell clams for me. The latter was the best choice, though it’s hard to name a dish after just 2 shells on my plate (the grey shrimp somewhat made up for it). My dinner mates expected a bit more excitement for the price of their simple dishes. Excellent Troubadour Blond beer, though quite pricey ...

Food was really good! But unfortunately, even with the reservation, we had to wait 30 minutes for the table and 1h more for the food! Really too much...

Having really enjoyed my pervious visit to the Troubadour and my garlic mussels I was disappointed with the follow up visit - maybe a different chef as it was an entirely different meal. I ordered garlic mussels but received plain mussels - when I pointed this out the meal was taken away and returned with garlic salt sprinkled over the meal. Consequently the flavour was not that of garlic mussels. The creme brulee is terrible - large serving but almost a custard tart.

The food was quite good, we both enjoyed our meal. Staff was overall friendly but could’ve been a bit better here and there; when we arrived the man at the door wasn’t friendly at all but this later improved. The girl who waited on us was really friendly up to the point where my husband tried to get her attention twice to order coffee or pay the bill she just looked & didn’t come over to help. In my experience looking at waiters & nodding is an international way of getting the waiter to come at your table!? However, all in all we had a good experience and above all the food was good.
