Il nome scelto per questo ristorante di via delle Moline, è un’espressione tipica bolognese. Una volta c’era qui una famosa libreria dove spesso si sostava oltre l’acquisto per discussioni e scambi di opinioni sulle letture. Giovanni, che ha rilevato tre anni fa questi spazi, ha voluto mantenere con quel passato colto un legame forte, la definisce una librosteria. Ha continuato ad ospitare molti volumi alle pareti e restaurandolo con le sue mani, ha ricreato un’atmosfera di casa, accogliente, un luogo che ora celebra la buona cucina bolognese e la sua cultura.
Vera rarità, solo cuochi “autoctoni”, le ricette sono quelle della nonna, delle famiglie, ritrovate e riproposte come il Balanzone, sfoglia verde ripiena di ricotta e mortadella o il dolce al mascarpone. Vini selezionati dal territorio.

This restaurant has a nice set up and you can sit outside. The food is very good and well priced. Recommend the Lasagna and the Bolognese pasta, but everything looked and smelled amazing. Enjoy!

Our experience at Va Mo La was excellent. The food is amazing and gives the dinner a real taste of Bologna. Our waiter was a really cool guy and very interactive. It’s a great place to eat and great value for money. And the desert and espresso to finish the meal was outstanding. We don’t get authentic Italian food like this in Australia. Loved it.

We had a lovely dinner here last week. The food is excellent!!! It is a very nice place to dine but it is not so intimate as suggested by some photos because of the big backroom with lots of tables. Nevertheless we really enjoyed our meal and the price rate is very reasonable.
Delicious food, friendly and fast service, cozy atmosphere based on a great unique concept, more than fair price. Would totally visit again when in Bologna.
Pretty touristy even though a local recommended it (appears to seat tourists in the front and locals in the back); server was friendly but food was just average.
Very touristy. Stale bread. Poor service with only one wait person. She did good for covering entire restaurant. Lasagna Bolognese was tasty but cooked until mushy.
Nice atmospheric place with traditional local dishes and vines. Waitress was very supportive and guided us through menu. We reserved at busy Saturday, so the wait time between starters and main dish was a bit longer then expected, but waitress managed it perfectly. Tiramisu was delicious!
Our first visit to Va Mo La was outstanding. Our menu choices on the second visit were disappointing--very bland and flavorless. Staff was not particularly interested in finding out what we didn't like.

Nice location and setting with a small menu choice. One of our diners required gluten free options and there were a few options available.
The restaurant seemed dark on entering and that caused concern about service and food. But we were not disappointed. The rustic food was excellent and the service very good indeed. The meat stuffed courgettes were particularly notable. Wine list was short but very good.
Quite an expensive place, but the quality of the dishes is up to par. Balanzoni were delicious, and the rabbit was also finely prepared. Overall positive experience for a slightly higher price than you would find in normal "good" restaurants, but worth the Insider denomination.
A large restaurant in a trendy part of Bologna in what looks like a converted garage. Divided into two parts, a room at the front gives onto the street, with a larger room at the rear; We were sat in the front and on an august evening found it too hot, so I would advise asking for a table in the rear in summer. The staff spoke good English and the menu is classic, although compared to there places we ate during our stay, the portions are just huge. I skipped the 'antipasti' (luckily) and ordered a sausage pasta as a 'primi piatti' and rabbit stew as the main course. I have a healthy appetite, but one of either would have been enough for me. Although the food was of reasonable quality, I had to leave half of each and forgo desert altogether. When the waiter came for the plates he as good as admitted the portions were too big. It was like I'd ordered two main courses! I almost felt we should have been warned, as it rather spoiled what would otherwise have been a decent meal in fashionable surroundings…
Everything went well, from the professional and friendly waiters to the excellent food. I will certainly return!
