Vi sentirete a casa, coccolati, senza formalità.

Absolutely delightful! The highlight of our time in Florence. Local and family owned. Steak melted in our mouth. Pasta cooked al dente. Atmosphere unique and cosy. Good price to value. We were the only non-Italians.

This is such a great restaurant in the less travelled section of via Guelfa. I’ve been a few times, always warmly welcomed and served delicious food. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful with menu selection.

At first service was slow, 30 minutes to put in an order. I suspect they were short staffed. By the end they were very attentive and even gave us complimentary digestifs. We enjoyed speaking with the server and learning about their family farm. The wine was very good. Food was good but not outstanding by Italian standards. We enjoyed our meal but are not compelled to return.

Two pasta dishes we had were simple yet complex local culinary gems. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, the choice of wine was flawless and the people who served us the food were full of energy and passion.

Perfect place, went there two times in four days. Fiorentina steak was perfect and the deserts, tiramisu and specially the mascarpone. Service and wine were both also very good.

Everything was wonderful - from their homemade olive oil to the wine from their vineyard. The boar ragu and pasta alla nonna were delicious but the caprese salad was literally the freshest, most mouth watering cheese and tomato I have ever had. It was better than the caprese salads I had in Capri. I could have eaten 5 more plates of just that!

Unpretentious place on a less popular area for tourists, but their own farm produced food and wine are truly exceptional! Best fillet steak I’ve ever had!

Amazing restaurant with family ran atmosphere! Ask the servers for wine recommendations and make sure to get the fried potatoes. The Florentine is a must. We ate there twice in 4 days as the atmosphere and food were too hard to risk elsewhere.

We had a wonderful evening at Osteria Vecchio Cancello. They use only the freshest ingredients, many from their own family farm south of Florence. They own a vineyard and bottle their own wine and it is very good. The family is rightfully proud of their farm and its products. Great locally sourced food, friendly owners, attentive staff, and very reasonable prices. Who could ask for more. It’s a little hard to find near the train station but worth the effort. And by the way, I bought a couple of bottles of their wine to take home.
