    Vicus looked the most interesting of the shortlist on TA, and so we booked them for a day out from BCN to the Costa Brava with amigos...and they did not disappoint! All around very good: dishes high-quality with little, innovative twists; portions modest but fine; service correcto and complete; atmosphere is a bit "pijo" but subdues, and only 2 other tables in the whole place when we were there; and all very good. Including a spectacular "Sasserra" Malvesia wine from nearby Garraf (felt more Canarias than anything!), the whole lunch was 40E per head, not cheap and very satisfying.

    Really excellent starters for all. Gluten intolerance very well catered for - the mussels were best in memory. A memorable meal for all the right reasons - food, service and a busy Wednesday night is always a good sign.

About the restaurant

En el pueblo medieval de la provincia de Gerona, Pals, se alza el restaurante Vicus. Gerard y Eli, propietarios de este local han optado por una decoración romántica pero moderna con un comedor en el que combinan elementos del antiguo café con otros de diseño moderno.

Cuenta con una preciosa nevera rescatada de madera, Frigidaire en la que el chef del restaurante, Damià Rafecas, guarda los ingredientes para asegurar su frescura hasta el momento de prepararlas. Con recetas tradicionales y productos naturales y frescos, el chef prepara una cocina con personalidad.

Prueba platos como las alcachofas con langostinos y alioli suave de azafrán o el arroz con calamar, salchichas y boletus. Disfruta de una cocina creativa y joven en un pueblo sin desperdicio y con historia.
