Villa Cipriani

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Madeira. The service is fantastic. We were 6 people at the table and Tony was a super host! The food at Villa Cipriani is delicious and VERY consistent. This place is also very gay-friendly and AmEx card are accepted. If the weather is not chilly or rainy, make sure to reserve a table al fresco.

This is maybe my favorite restaurant in Madeira Island. Great service. Delicious food. Lovely Aperol Spritz. Terrific for al fresco dining. Very LGBT-friendly. Accepts AmEx cards. A must-go restaurant for anyone visiting the island.

The food was very good but we felt overpriced for pasta no matter how excellent. Service was lacking in several areas, waiting staff seemed to be focussed on residents and it was very hard to catch their eye even as they walked by the table...we were not the only guests who had this challenge.

Attentive, professional but friendly service. The best food we had the entire week in Madeira. Beautiful views and setting. Would recommend unreservedly.

Everything about our visit to Villa Cipriani was excellent, the food is delicious and the service exceptional. It always feels like a special treat to dine at this restaurant, and we will always return when in Funchal.

Really lovely welcome the minute you walk in the door. Every single member of staff greets you as you walk past them. A really wonderful old fashioned standard of service! The setting was breathtaking, despite a little flurry of rain, and even then, because we were sitting outside, the staff immediately asked if we wanted to move indoors. The food was delicious, hot, and we didn't have to wait long being served. A little more expensive than other restaurants, but worth every penny for the standard of service and excellent food.

Villa Cipriani is a great restaurant. The service is first class - friendly, personable but very professional. The food is excellent and the setting is pretty special. Highly recommend it!!

In our view this restaurant is unfortunately over-rated. It is playing on its past reputation of something grander. We agree with one of the previous reviewers, the food is just average, and is expensive compared to other restaurants in Madeira with better dishes. The maitre d also made it clear they were not fond of bookings via the fork, probably prefer their own hotel guests from Reid's Palace. All a bit awkward. On the plus side though the waiters were very professional and service is good. The location and setting of the restaurant is also charming. But we had better experiences overall in many other restaurants on the Island.

Excellent service with enjoyable Italian atmosphere and food

Waiting Staff officious not personable, very poor English. Clinical sterile ambience that needs modernising. Food was mixed standards and not very imaginative. Lobster sauce for Linguine not much taste. It was a real pity because the evening promised so much. We were given a lovely table with a sea view however from then on we felt like we were part of military operation. Finally and one plus point the Maitre’’D was very keen to provide a high level of service but unfortunately his staff and the average food let him down.

A beautiful restaurant located to one side of the Belmond Reid grounds with a view to Funchal. Gracious, attentive maitre d' and waiting staff. Well chosen menu with a variety of Mediterranean dishes, delicious and beautifully presented. We felt welcome and valued as guests and lingered over our meal. A memorable experience.

We have dined at Villa Cipriani many times and always have excellent food with excellent service. We can not recommend Villa Cipriani more highly!

This place is wonderful. The food is incredible. The setting is great. The service is top notch. We go every tome we are in Funchal and would recommend it hugely.
