We had reserved a table with the 50% promotion, which was respected by the restaurant. The place is cozy and bright, even though the open windows made it quite chilly. The staff was friendly and provided us a menu in English which was much appreciated. The menu is not extensive, I think it changes seasonally according to the availability of fresh products. The dishes were arranged beautifully, but the taste wasn't quite alright. Most of the pairings clashed with one other, I especially did not appreciate the duck with the five spices mix, the spices were overpowering and the dish tasted off. Although the duck could have paired well with the potatoes and pumpkin, and those two could have paired well with the spices, the three elements of the dish didn't work well together. The risotto didn't need the salad that came with it, but it would have required more flavor, nor the truffle nor the mushrooms taste emerged and it just tasted cheesy. The cod might have worked with the broccoli, yet it was also served with lentils, bacon and a red wine sauce. I personally would have enjoyed it more as two separate dishes. All this combined, I didn't enjoy my experience, but perhaps it's just a matter of personal taste. There is a wide selection of wines to choose from.
Really really good!
We had dinner with two. The place is split in tree levels which creates a nice atmosphere; it is not too big and not too small. The waitress was kind and a little reserved, could have told us a bit more about the dishes on the menu or her recommendations to make it all come alive a bit more. The food is well portioned, well seasoned and we liked the “seasonality” of it. Also price wise expect to spend around € 50 per person on a tree course meal. It is not cheap, but worth it. It is a restaurant I would like to come back some time next year, but not the kind of place you will automatically think of when you plan a dinner in the area. Just a nice French restaurant with a good atmosphere and fair prices. Service was good, attentive but could be a bit more interactive on selling the place!
This restaurant was a glad surprise! They have a monthly menu with attractive options and nice wine options too. The quality of the food was excellent and the service and time were very good. The atmosphere was very pleasant for a dinner with friends or couples.
A little hidden gem! Beautifully decorated & comfortable. Nice staff & a simple but tasty menu. We had the 3 course menu which was well priced. Would definitely recommend a visit
Very sympathic welcome. Food is good quality. Plate presentation was very nice. But meal could be have deserved a bit of twist... was a bit flat.
Food was good but bit great. Service was inexperienced but cute.
Great new restaurant! Really good food, great service, and cozy atmosphere! Prices are reasonable and the wine list by the glass is great value with 4 nice options each of white and red wines.
The cosy restaurant well hidden in old town Leiden, had fantastic mix of Frenchness with Dutch cuisine. We were warmly welcomed, had a nice table. The menu had a nice choice of exciting starters, and mains. We loved the cheeses. Good wines all available by glass. Only minor thing was lighting - it was bit too dark, so we had to ask for second candle. Recommended new addition to Leiden - they just started 28/10
Prima bistrot. Hebben we lang gemist in Leiden.
