Al que quizá es el restaurante más mítico de Madrid, hay gente que peregrina solo por sus patatas souflé. Es quizá una barbaridad decir esto, ya que estamos hablando del primer restaurante que ostentó tres estrellas Michelin en nuestro país. Lo cierto es que el que tuvo, retuvo y hoy se va a Zalacaín sabiendo que es un restaurante en el nunca falla nada. Las patatas son solo un ejemplo: lograr la grandeza en un plato secundario tiene mérito, sobre todo cuando esa calidad permanece a lo largo del tiempo.

En su comedor exquisito, ningún detalle se deja al azar: desde el menaje de plata hasta la mantelería de hilo. La carta respira el aroma de las cosas bien hechas, con entrantes atemporales como la lasaña gratinada de setas e hígado de oca o la menestra de verduras de temporada. Da la dimensión del local que ya tenga clásicos que solo son de aquí como el espectacular búcaro Don Pío, con huevos de codorniz, salmón ahumado y caviar beluga o la ensalada de bogavante al vinagre de Jerez. El servicio, clásico y atento, trata de que las cosas funcionen como siempre en esta casa: mejor, imposible.

Really tasteless food, took the 7 course menu, the only dish that tasted good was the desert at the end.

The dishes at times seemed like something you would expect at fast food place and mostly flavourless.

The service was generally good, but not up to par compared to other Michelen star restaurants (e.g. No explanation of what the dish is, not always paying attention to table)

Full marks for the ambience as it has a classy look and feel to the place, but really not worth going for this restaurant given the quality of food.

Big let down and not even worth a fraction of the EUR 135 pp cost of the dinner (including bottle of wine).

Again not disappointed! Excellent service and quality of the food, especially the wines and postre. Starting 25 years ago of visiting Zalacain almost annually and the quality of the food and service has been maintained on the same high level as learned in 90's when we first time visited this restaurant. Correct meal but nothing more. For this price of meal I expect much more.Dishes was unimaginative, without modern tones, meal like I can prepare at home without any problem... for this kind of food I do not need to goin high quality restaurant. I was really disappointing

I had the menu degustation which I recommend. Many dishes but the right portion. Everything very tasty, well cooked and the presentation perfect. The service was official and friendly. Perfectly trained and attentive. The whole setting of the restaurant is very high class but you never feel awkward. Some dishes are prepared or completed in front of you and this is spectacular and entertaining. Desserts are perfect too. I dined alone and felt very much at ease. Perfect atmosphere. I recommend it if you want to have a luxurious experience and high quality of food.
