10/10Zazpi Gastobar in San Sebastián delivered an exceptional dining experience, with impeccable service from Maite, our knowledgeable waitress. We began with ravioli de txangurro, featuring local spider crab in a rich seafood sauce, perfectly setting the tone. The solomillo steak was tender and well-seasoned, but the highlight were the cochinillo and pichón. The suckling pig was juicy with crispy skin, while the pigeon stood out with its perfectly grilled breast and an airy mousse made from the organs. We ended with the Luna de Chocolates, a white chocolate egg filled with custard and molten chocolate, dusted with lemon sugar—an exquisite finish to a fantastic meal we had in San Sebastián. I can't wait to return and try the tasting menu.

10/10We loved the space that the restaurant has, away from the very busy bar area. Both the waiting staff and food was delightful! Spanish food and hospitality rock!

4/10We booked dinner at Zazpi after seeing at its high ratings. It was very disappointing, so these ratings are probably based on reviews over an extended period into the past. The room is nicely casual, but the lighting is very harsh, and the sound bounces around unpleasantly on too many hard surfaces. Some soft background music might help. There appeared to be only one server in charge of the entire room, and he was harried, to say the least. He plugged a particular wine, which we were unfamiliar with. It was OK, but not great. We later heard him giving the same advice to other tables around us. Maybe they had a large shipment to unload…… We wanted to share a starter, the crab ravioli, and he wisely advised us to order one each. They were tasty, but literally one small ravioli, one bite for Euro 12, a ridiculous price to quantity ratio. I ordered the bacalao, which was not up to par compared to other much cheaper restaurants we had eaten at in both Bilbao and San Sebastián. The skin was slimy and the accompanying seafood sauce tasted really off. It was unpleasant and I struggled to finish it. My husband ordered the cochinillo, which was acceptable, but not anything beyond that. The service was very slow. We ordered water, which was forgotten, and it took us some time to flag down the server to remind him. We ordered desserts and the server mixed them up and brought us the wrong ones. Since we had waited for 15 minutes for them to be made, we gave up at this point and just ate them. The server deducted them from the bill, although we did not ask for this to be done. In summary, very poor value for money spent. You would be better off, and have more fun, almost anywhere else in the Parte Vieja. Overall, not a gastronomic experience we would repeat, a big disappointment.

8.5/10Really solid restaurant that is a nice alternative to Pintxos. Food was really good and creatively prepared. Enjoyed this restaurant very much!

8.5/10Three out of four dishes were excellent. Service by experienced waitress very good. Another bloke seemed like it was his first time. Good wine.
