Basically the food was very mixed. We really enjoyed the first course. We had the fish soup and a mixed salad (off menu). The soup was fragrant, full of fish bits and nicely seasoned. The salad was plentiful, had a tasty dressing and had a nice variety of toppings. We ordered the steak for 2 as a main. And it was actually not good at all. Very tough and rubbery at medium rare. The flavour was decent but the texture was awful. And a giant inedible fat rind.

The only time anyone bothered to ask how things were with our meal was when we piled up our plates and pushed them forward as we could not stand another overly chewy bite. When we mentioned how chewy the steak was, the staff didn’t really seem to care. The waitresses were friendly but not really concerned with good service. The female manager was less friendly and couldn’t have cared less about us and never came over to our table once after I requested a side of vegetables, which she seemed to find a ridiculous request. Overall: we were not impressed. There is definitely better food in town!

Arrive at 7.55 for 8pm reservation, greeted warmly by the chef (owner?)
We ate inside in a charming 1st floor room, looking out over the street. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Reasonably priced for the quality.

We spent 2 nights in Hondarribia and ate both nights here. The first night my wife had the grilled monkfish tails and I had the sole meunière- both cooked beautifully. Last night I had the monkfish as I had enjoyed the mouthful I had been able to steal from my wife the night before and again was cooked to perfection and my wife had the beef tournedos which again was cooked exactly as ordered. Highly recommended!!

They suggested the whole sea bass for 2 and it was fantastic! Scallop starter and cheesecake with berries outstanding. Great service and quaint atmosphere. Recommend highly!
